Converting t56 to aftermarket style
I have a lt1 t56 core, seing as it has to be rebuilt anyway, what is involved, or who can i send it to that can convert it to the aftermarket style that retains factory shift hole, tilted bellhousing ect. I believe the aftermarket t56 retains the stock t5 style clutch as well correct? Thanks for the input

Re: Converting t56 to aftermarket style
Whether it is a 93 or 94-97 box matters; got a tag on a tail housing bolt with the 13-86 - xxx number?
There are lots of ways to keep the stock clutch. The parts to make one exactly like the Borg Warner aftermarket box are dried up, but there are plenty of ways to make things work out

Re: Converting t56 to aftermarket style
The aftermarket T56 retained the T5 bellhousing, clutch, hydraulics, VSS and shifter location. If you were to utilize that transmission, you would only need a new crossmember, torque arm mount and shorten your driveshaft. To convert an LT1 you would need to convert the input, front plate and tail shaft. I think you will have trouble finding the input shaft though, when I brought my LS T56 to the Tremec dealer/rebuilder we got to talking about my aftermarket trans, he said the input shaft is very had to get, if available at all.
I have the whole setup, minus the torque arm mount, I was going to use it, but I would prefer an LS T56 honestly. Where are you located?
