WOT shifts too slow, holds gear too long
Is there any remedy for the transmission holding a gear too long?
I’ve owned my GTA for about 25 years now and I’ve always thought it holds a gear too long before shifting into the next.
I’ve got the heavy duty TransGo Shift kit and Corvette Servo and the lower RPM shifts are awesome and rock crushing
It seems to hold the gear at the top of the rpm range for a full second or more without picking up anymore speed.
I’m 2/3 of the way through my Single Turbo Project and while I’m doing all that I better make sure the transmission is working the way I want it too.
Any insight is appreciated...
Thanks in Advance
Chris

Car only has 60k miles
and it’s not a progressive problem, it’s ALWAYS been like that.

You can change the shift points with the governor weights. I had a built trans that came with a governor with light weights in it and it shifted much too late. If you want it to shift sooner you need heavier weights. Then when you get in the range you want you can fine tune it with springs. Again heavier (stronger) springs shift sooner. Lighter springs shift later. Also insure the governor plunger moves freely without any sticking or binding. Use a diamond file or bit of sharpening stone to clean up any burrs or mushroomed edges, etc.
