700r4 Throttle valve

So when we were dropping the trans to swap converters, I thought everything was disconnected, I told my buddy to let the Jack down and when he did we heard a loud pop, turns out that although I unbolted the throttle valve cable housing, I forgot to disconnect the linkage itself. We stabbed the new 2400 fti converter in and put it all back together but the transmission has really soft shifts at low points compared to before when it would dump first around 2800 rpm at part throttle. I checked the cable and it still has spring tension. The bracket football bent to hell but I replaced it. It seems no matter how I adjust it, the shifts dont seem to change. Could I have stretched the cable nor is it more likely a destroyed the valve? It is low on fluid probably 2 or 3 quarts (it's about ¼" from the hash marks on the dipstick so I know it won't act completely right). I only test drove once up and down the street while adjusting tje cable. But could the low shift points and slippage be contributed to any damage to the valve from not disconnecting it? I'm probably worrying for nothing and once I fill it up itll be fine but until then I'm loosing my sh*t.

Re: 700r4 Throttle valve

So you disconnected the cable from the throttle body side? You didn't do anything with the trans side of the cable?

Re: 700r4 Throttle valve

I didnt disconnect it from either side, I thought I disconnected it from the trans but I only unbolted the cable housing. But problem is resolved, it was just low on trans fluid. Apparently i lost a lot more than I thought and my driveway is on a hill so I wasnt getting accurate readings on the dipstick. Shes all fixed and running again.
