Sludge in pan - How much is acceptable?

I finally got around to changing out the pan gasket and filter today. Replaced the leaky oil pressure sensor and now the bottom of the car isn't an oil slick any more. Amazing!

Anyway, when I pulled the pan there was some amount of gritty dark grey sludge under where the filter would be. The old filter suction was on the top. The new one was on the bottom. How much sludge is acceptable? The fluid was still pretty reddish and didn't have a burnt smell. It also shifts pretty good for 123,000+ miles.

Here's a good laugh for ya'll. The last time the filter was replaced the idiot left the old ring seal in the tranny. So there were two! Amazing the pan even went on.
