Leo-anyone, questions inside.
Im really wanting the 700r4 in my firebird. I put the one that was in my camaro into the firebird and it crapped out in two weeks. I had a shop install a kit that wouldent let the converter lockup. The guy who did the work wasent there when I picked it up and the person that works at the counter dident have a clue to what he did. The invoice reads install lockup converter bypass. They did something in the valve body. What did they do??? It only cost $80 and shifted great for a week and a half. I had the tranny out when I took it in so they dident just unplug the lockup.
Well I want that done again to my other tranny but im taking it to another shop so I need to know what they did, Im still kinda upset so I dont want to call and ask for specifics.
Also the tranny out of the caprice. We took the gov out put it in another car a while back and I forgot. What are the chances the the one from the camaro is still good?
Last question anyone have the part no. handy for a speedo gear drive for 3:42 gears and standard 14 in wheels? I was using the gear drive for the camaro and that had 15's on it so the speedo was off quite a bit. I called the dealer and the chick working the phone dident have a clue, She told me she couldent find one
thats just BS!
Thanks

First off, you WANT L/U on the street. Also, the kit I am thinking of is meant specifically for Non-Lock converters, to reroute the lube oil. I suspect that they didn't do much more than change the fluid and disconnect it internally but I could be wrong I suppose but I don't know too many shops who will do much more than drop the pan and filter for that price.
Governor should match the rear axle so if you are tlaking about the original tranny then use it.

Thanks for they reply. I would like a lockup converter but the computer is long gone. This car rearely gets to lockup speeds anyway so I cant justify having it work. I just like that steep 1st gear the 700r4 has. How hard is it to install the aftermarket kit to make the tc lockup?
Thanks,
