1LE Drive Line Install

I was just curious if any one can tell me what the tab with the C-clips on each end, holding the caps on the U-Joint is for?? do you leave this on (the cap is grooved for the C-Clips) or do you keep this off.???

the c-clips hold the caps in place, if the caps are not retained by the yoke, then you need the c-clips.
