700r4 speedo gear housing leak.

I have a leak from the speedo gear housing I believe. This is what it looks like from underneath. What needs to be replaced, is there just a seal inside the speedo gear housing that needs to be replaced. Any help would be great thanks.

It is just the one bolt and the hold down that retains the Vss.
im not sure what size the o-ring is I think it’s 2” od.
maybe some one else will chime in. You might have to pry out the Vss the o-rings can swell and make it hard to remove.

Can the outer part of the vss be leaking too (I don't know the correct name for it). As you can see there are two drips one on the outer part and one on the inner part where the o ring is. If I put a new o ring on and the outer part still leaks do I need a new vss?

Yes the outer part of the Vss can leak. Depending on the gear count of your Vss I might have a new one if needed.
the cheapest would be to do a o ring first then Vss if needed.

Ok thanks, next weekend I'm gonna do the job and I'll just do the o-ring first, then if its still leaking I will PM you for the vss. Also if your vss doesn't fit my application where can I obtain a new one that will fit. Thanks so much for the help.

RockAuto has the Vss but doesn’t list the o ring separate
