Built a 8.8. Bought a axle housing measuring tool from leadmine. The axle lengths I came up with were 27 9/16. Plus the 2.74 brake offset and I got just under 30.25. Both the same.
why is the guy at strange saying the axle lengths 29.75 and 30?? I took his word and ordered them but have been having crazy 2nd thoughts.
Anyone here have any experience?
Oh, I also dropped in the carrier and measured to the pin and came up with the same measurement as I did with the housing tool.
I did call back and asked him why they were different and he said because of the carrier offset. I get that but if I measured to the carrier pin to the housing end and came up with 27 9/16 on both sides, I just dont get why he said they are different lengths.

Any info on getting my small brain to wrap around this is greatly appreciated.

Edit, the 30.3945 (J &M) was from using a different brake offset.. the correct bo is 2.74
