HELP! Transmission Car Just Started Doing Something Strange. Videos inside
My 1986 Camaro IROC Z TPI 700R4 just started doing something strange. It's been driving fine. I drove for about 30 minutes earlier today with no problem. Another short trip to the gas station no issues.
Tonight I took it for a 10 minute drive. I was driving at 60 no problems. I stopped for a light and made a right hand turn. WHen I began accelerating my car began revving to 3500 RPM and it started making all kinds of funny noises. It seems to shift really hard into 2nd and 3rd and it's not going into 4th. In overdrive it's shifting at 3500 RPM. The car feels like it has no power.
Transmission was rebuilt 4 years ago from a very reputable shop. It was given an upgrade with thicker clutch packs. Rear end was rebuilt just a few months ago. When my transmission died the last time it neutral-ed out in 4th gear but ran fine in Drive though it wanted to overheat. This time it's revving really high and the car feels like it has no power.
In idle the car seems fine. I'm afraid driving like this I am going to blow my engine. Here are the videos:
Please let me know ASAP. That way I can have this car towed. I'll try to get videos in the daylight if I can.

I went back out for another quick drive. Here is a better video of what is happening.
I Checked the dipstick. Fluid level is fine. There is water dripping from the center of the car near the transmission and it is water not transmission fluid. I'm not sure where that would even come from.

Update I took it for a drive this morning and the 700R4 won't shift out of first. The RPM drop is me letting off the gas not the car shifitng. I couldn't get past 20 mph or so and the engine just keeps revving without shifting.

Well, in my unprofessional opinion, you need a rebuild.
Maybe something to do with the pump which is making the noise.
Not getting out of 1st, and the other issues you describe could be related to the throttle valve, or maybe the TV cable is broke. You can try TV reset procedure, but I don't think thats the problem when you also count the noise it seems to be making.
TV Cable mis-adjusted can cause all sorts of drivability issues, in addition to a quick death. If the actual throttle valve in the valve body is stuck or or not working.
I'm sure someone with more experience will come along.

Assuming the TV cable adjustment is correct, the first place I would look is the governor.
OT - what's up with your battery voltage?

What would cause the TV Cable to become misadjusted? Does it just become misadjusted over time? The last time it was adjusted was when the transmission was rebuilt. Hasn't been touched since.

I'm going to call my transmission shop tomorrow and have them look at. I'm hoping it's just the governor.
The transmission shop is very reputable, I know every auto repair shop in the area uses them as does almost everyone. The father and son are 700R4/4L60e specialists. They told me they installed thicker clutch packs, a better piston and made some adjustments so the transmission runs cooler.
As for the voltage meter, the needle is stuck. A year a go, I taped cardboard behind all three of the gauges because the needles kept sticking after I would shut the car off. But a few weeks ago when it got hot all of the tape melted and the cardboard shifted. Temp and Gas the cardboard shifted up so the needles still aren't sticking but I guess voltage it shifted down so now the needle is stuck behind the face plate.

I found the RO for the transmission rebuild. I have less than 20K on the transmission. I've only put 16,600 miles on the rebuild.

Sounds like your internal pressure s are off something might be blocking flow .
in other words a bad rebuild it happens hopefully the shop will make good buy after 16k I'd say probably not unless they give warranty

It ended up being the Governor. They did for free under warranty.
