Car: 1988 GTA Trans am 1 owner since new
Engine: 383 built
Transmission: 1995 camaro t56 6 speed
Axle/Gears: 3.24 posi 9 bolt
T56 atf??

Can I use gm aft 6 synthetic in a 1995 t56
I want to change it to synthetic but I want to know if it's better or should I just get aft3 gm like redline d4

I used Dex/Merc in mine. I'm not sure the synco's will work as well with a synthetic.

If you want to try it go ahead and see how the shift quality is. If it's not a good then change to something like the Dex/Merc blends

No. GM TSB 04-07-30-037D contradicts the use of Dexron VI in manual boxes. This came out after temporary use of VI in T56 units by GM.

Everything new and improved about Dec VI is relevant to automatics and will not enhance function nor performance of the T56 nor TR6060.

Friction characteristics of fluid used in the manual boxes shouldn't be changed to some synthetics, including the Dex-VI, or synchronizer performance will suffer.

Use 88861800 or Dexron/Mercon.
