transmission additive

my 96 plymouth voyager's automatic transmission is slipping out of gear into neutral when still cold. When the car heats up it stops doing this. The dealer says that they have to completely rebuild the trans and it will cost around $2k. I really dont want to spend the money if i dont have to. I have heard of a special transmission additive to help with this problem. Does anyone know of any additives i could use?

Sorry but no it won't fix anything. What is happening in your tranny there are many internal leaks that add up and cause these complaints. I do allot of those units. Make sure that they use a TransGo Shift Kit and correct oil for this unit. Also, have a cooler (TruCool is the best) installed and bypss the radiator or it will likely drop again. This is because the converter clutch comes apart and restricts the radiators tranny cooler. In fact, I have a '95 Concorde I bought with similar problems. I am buying the converter from the dealer since I don't trust the reman units out there.
