Need help

I have a 86 RS Camaro, it currently has the 2.8l engine in it, I would like to put a v8 in it later on, basically I want an IRoc clone. Is there any differences between the RS and the IRoc other than suspension and engine? and will my stock 700r4 and rear end be able to handle the extra power?

Nothing that bolts to the V6 will bolt to a gen 1 small block. You'll need a V8 transmission from another 3rd gen. The rear end is basically the same with the exception of possible ratio differences and lack of positraction. The car's underhood wiring harness will need modification depending on what you swap in. The radiator will likely need changed. The complete exhaust system will need to be changed.

The appearance items will need to be obtained---16" IROC wheels, IROC-specific body panels, badging, etc. These are just the most obvious differences; there are probably a dozen other differences as well.

IMO, this isn't a practical project, especially if you can't do all the work yourself. If your RS is a nice car already, enjoy it for what it is, or else sell it and buy the 3rd gen you really want. If you still decide to go forward, your best bet would be to find a V8 donor 3rd gen from which to obtain all the mechanical parts you'll need. Just be aware that you'd be working with 30+ year-old parts.

Not trying to discourage you, but simply aware you of the extensive changes---and the $$$ those changes will cost---before you jump in.

GL with however you decide to proceed.
