Help again with iroc and rs

Well the iroc is an 86 or an 87, it has a 305. its about the same condition as my 92 rs v6.

What should i keep the rs, or buy the iroc, either way i mite but a bigger engine in either of them.

i think most people would say go with the iroc but it really just depends of which one you like more. Which one would you have to do less work to, to make it the car you really want.

Well, consider this: No matter how much money you put into either car, one will always be an RS, and one will be an IROC. Also, 'IROC' is more fun to say than RS

Considering your RS is a V6.... no brainer.

in my opinion i would say that the 91 and 92 camaros have a little better eye appeal because of the ground effects and interior options. But you can always swap ground effects and what not for the right price.

like I said on AIM....go with the better body....you plan on swapping a 383 or 350 down the line so it's not gonna matter whether you have a v6 or a 305 in it is it? You do want something that will hold up the best when you put all that power under the hood.....keep in mind that it's not just backing a 383 to a T5 and you're good to go....you've got tranny, rear, suspension, and exhaust work to take care of as well....good luck in what you choose and let us know

The rs will have an lt1*, if i get the iroc it will be a stock 305

The lt1*, tranny, and computer will cost me $500, the iroc with the 305 will cost me like $700.

if it's a 98 it wouldnt be an lt1...it'd be an ls1, and whether or not he's being a good friend by practically giving you the engine, he's a dumbass at the same time for selling it that cheap

you do realize that there's much more involved than just dropping in an lsx motor and hooking up the computer right? Other mods are required

Depends on what you want.

If you keep the RS you'll need to upgrade the suspension. RS has nothing on the IROC there. Both cars will need subframe work to handle that LT1.

IMO, assuming you're dead-set on the switch, stick with the RS, and use that money to buy a good set of shocks, springs, and sway bars. Then look into some subframe connectors and possibly even a wonderbar.

Trust the guys here, they know engine swaps are no joke.

The stock RS suspension will suffice but not be ideal. He should invest in sub frame connectors and replace only the parts that are completely worn out. It doesn't matter if he has the iron duke or an LS7 SFC's should be the first mod done to any 3rd gen.

I would only buy the IROC if you had to have the name associated with it. The suspension will more than likely be just as worn out as the RS and the exhaust, and gears (unless he has 3.42 posi) will be slightly less lame.

An LT1 swap should be cheaper than an LS1 swap given the great price he paid. He won't need new motor mounts, tranny corssmember, or transmission. He will also have the donor car near by to get anything he needs.

That 86 IROC would need suspension work anyway (especially one for $700). So either way you end up doing a suspension swap. I would stick with the 92. I think it looks better, it's the 25th Anniversary (though that doesn't matter if you plan to modify it extensively) and you don't have to worry about any unexpected surprises with the 86. But it's your choice.

the rs is in same condition as the 86 iroc, i picked up the rs for 500, put 400 into it to get it running, I found the car and its been sitting for 2 years before i picked it up, only thing i switched was oil, starter, altinater, and a couple of other things.
the rs has bad shocks, suspension, and my tranny is not shifting all the time.

but the iroc has a nicer body, has no dents at all., my rs deos, witch i am fixing but, i cant paint it black now .

I went out street racing tonight, I smoked a green civic, then raced an old jaguar he smoked me off the line, but around 80 i caught up, and we stayed neck and neck till we hit 105, then my car wouldnt go any faster
after that a 88' z28 smoked me completly

I NEED A V8.
