Flex plates
Flex plates
Hi there, I have a 1981 Pontiac Firebird and I recently purchased a 305 HO from a 1986 Pontiac Firebird, the flex plates are different and the one on the engine has a Weight and the one from my car doesn't and I can't find any that will fit my transmission and has a Weight, does anybody on here know where I can get a flex plate that will fit and has a weight

Have you checked yet to see if the engine to bellhousing bolts line up? I'm no expert on swaps, but I recall the "BOP" (Buick Olds Pontiac) bellhousing pattern is different than the small block chevy pattern used on the 82 thru 92 third gen F bodies. I could be mistaken but I though all of the second gen F bodies (your 1981) got the Pontiac VS the Chevy engine. Which, BTW, brings up the point that this forum is exclusively for third gen F bodies and your best answers are likely to come from a site that caters to the second gen F body cars. Not being snobby or pulling the ol "go away, ya ain't welcome" , it's just that a second gen forum will have many more people who know your car specifically.....

Yeah, check out nastyZ28.com. I'm a member there with my 1971 Camaro, though I"m not that familiar with late 2nd gen Firebirds. If anyone is going to be able to answer your questions, it's probably those guys.
