Good day all!
Let me preface this by saying that I know basically NOTHING about automatic transmissions. I know gear ratios and what they do, but in terms of how they work, basically zero.
Now that that's out of the way, I have a '92 Z28 that's been carbureted/ECM pulled. almost everything has been ported over from electronic to analog control. TV cable is hooked up and adjusted properly. I've been reading online about the torque converter lockup in the 700r4 and how it was controlled by the ECM. A few questions:
1. What is a torque converter lockup and what does it do?
2. How bad is it/what are the effects of not having the ECM hooked up to the TCC?
3. If I need a kit to change the control to vacuum, how hard is it to do/where do I start looking?

Any transmission tech can hook u up no problem. I don't know what it takes but the kit runs maybe $150? I've ran another car a long time without tcc lockup with no issues but some say it's hurts the tranny or costs a lil gas mileage
The lock up TC makes a direct connection from the engine to the transmission, eliminates the slipping, feels like another gear change in some cars. Not a critical thing for transmission life but does eliminate some heat in the fluid. Not sure on the vacuum deal?
