Stock t5 shifter lever, is there a clip between the fulcrum?

On a stock t5 shifter what holds these two pieces?

my brothers falls right off. I’ve never had one apart.

looks like there would be a spring clip or something. Maybe that is what is missing? Or is it just an interference fit?

What it should look like

At my mouse pointer, what keeps this joint together?

I have never seen one apart or even found a write up of how to separate them. It looks like a friction coupling similar to what holds the chuck in place on a drill press, which would make sense when you think about the assembly process.

Have you tried putting it on and giving it a good tap with a mallet?

I know what you are talking about. Those big bits with the interference fit (probably wrong word for this one) and have to edge them out. Guess those are more a taper those

that must be all it is. Seems to be holding so far. Thanks

It's either a threaded joint, or a press-fit rubber bushed joint, depending on original application.
