transmission shifts slow?
Ok guys, heres my problem, When I'm doing normal, easy driving around town and stuff, the transmission shifts fine. But when I get more aggressive and make it shift higher 4000-4500 it shifts slow, this is mostly noticable in the 1-2 shift. After it shifts it will drop down some in rpm, pause, then drop down some more and then it takes off in seond gear. This is the best way I can describe this problem because it is kind of weird. My transmission is a stock 700R4 with no major work done to it that I know of. Car has ~100K miles. Any opinions? Would a shift-kit help?
A shift kit might help some. What you really need is a rebuild. The stock clutch stack clearances are big plus you have 100,000 miles on them. I had a fresh but slow shifting 700, I pulled it out and set the clearances to transgo specs and it made a world of difference. No other mods. But with your mileage it wouldn't make much sense to tear it down without replacing parts. You should first check the tv cable adjustment.
A transgo kit would help and could be left in during a rebuild so it wouldn't be a waste of money.

when you put a shift kit in, does the car jerk when it shifts? I still want a nice shift, just faster. We dad has a 74 GMC truck with a th350 tranny, that thing shifts awesome! It is so quick and precise, I love driving that thing. I think it might have a kit in it because it always has to rev up so high to shift into third. What are some other weaknesses with putting shift kits in?
