Traction

I have an 82 camaro with a 2.73 rear end, limited slip, a th-350, and a 3000 stall, i am about to pu ta 400+ hp 350 in it, what could i do to get traction, keep in mind this is a street/strip car, and a daily driver so a little bit of gas mialage is important, i was thinking, air shocks and about 12 inch radials, would that help, i also heard something about something you put in the rear that can make it a posi, any help is appreciated, thanks

I would upgrade to at least a 3.73 ratio, you will be disappointed with a 2.73.

Just to serve my ignorant curiousity... Why would he be disappointed?

Limited Slip = Posi.... so you don't need to add anything. But i suspect your 2.73 rear isn't Posi

A 2.73 will hinder off the line acceleration. Upgrading to a 3.73 would yank the car off the line much faster. these numbers are ratios, 2.73:1 or 3.73:1. What 3.73:1 means is that for every 3.73 rotations of the driveshaft, the axle turns once. It's like a lower speed on a bicycle. If a bike is in 1st gear, it's easier to pedal than 5th gear, same principle with cars.

what i mean by limited slip is whatever wheel turns first turns, itll only burn one tire, 2 on occasion, by the way i got the 350 in and got a idle out of her today, hopefully tomaroow ill get her on the road, i dont want to go with much higher so i can have a litle gas mialage, i get about 20 with my 305, im hoping for 13-16 with this motor, I was going to put airshocks on it for ground clearance too, it drags everywhere. oh and i also heard the made something that would make the rear into a posi, thanks for everyones help

I got the 400+ hp, because this engine came out of a boat, we gave summit the #s and they said it was 450 hp, since then the heads went from 1.94- 2.02, 72cc-78cc, the carb went from a 750 holley to a 500 carter, the cam went from a 470 lift to a 467 lift, etc.. i got it running and on the road, it ran good except for two problems, low oil pressure, i think the pickup tube fell out, today im gonna take and weld it, and 2 the head gasket is leaking a little water, something to fix next weekend i guess. i didnt really push her today, only reved her to 5k, didnt have as much as i would of lked 0-30, however it churped the tires hitting second (at 5k and 55 mph) and felt like if i would gave a little more the front wheels would come off of the ground, ha, i didnt get it fast enough to hit third, only got it up to 90. oh yeah traction wasnt as much as a prob as i excpected, with that 2.73 gear and all. oh well sorry about the long post
