Hello,
I have a stock 1987 5.7 Iroc. I bought about 20 years ago and I have noticed since day one that if I have the transmission in Drive the shifts from 1/2/3 (normal acceleration) are firmer then when the selector is in Overdrive.. Is this normal?
Thanks for any insight

OOPS!
I misread your your thread. There is nothing wrong with firm shifts in the gears 1-2-3 & seemingly soft into 4th. U are okay.
No it is not. I have same problem and shift manually. My TV cable is set correctly. I am going to purchase the 700-4R governor spring set & experiment by changing them. A fellow locally who was a GM mechanic & knows this transmission believes, from experience, that the diff springs will solve the problem.

I think I read somewhere that there is a higher line pressure when in Drive compared to OverDive.
