Axle codes
I am trying to decode an axle code on a 1982 Trans Am Coupe. The code stamped on the axle is "3 JX C 175". I have looked everywhere I could think of and no match. The rear end is a 10 bolt 7.5 posi but no clue of ratio, I would like to know before I tear it down.

According to the parts manual the JX on your tag was only available for 82-83 it's listed as a GU3 and the ratio is 2.93

Thanks I used the count the revolutions of axle and pinion shaft and came close but now I know for sure. I have a 305 dual throttle body with a 200C transmission and will finally finish the rebuild with this information, thank you much.
