Axle Identification Code

Ok, so I crawled under my car last night to see if I could read the axle identification code on the axle housing. I couldn't find anything anywhere. I brushed the thing down to the bare metal and still nothing. I'm pretty sure I have a BW axle, because the RPO code says I have a 2.77 ratio. But, I just want to make sure no one swapped it out. Any ideas on where it could be? It's an 87 Trans Am.

Re: Axle Identification Code

Don't waste your time looking for the housing code. If it has the 9-bolt cover, it is a BW rear. Accept the fact or pull the cover.
