82 Camaro Saginaw 9.5 inch clutch kit 153 fly wheel

Now that I have able to get a Z-Bar for my 1982 Z28 Camaro, I need a Clutch Kit, and not found a kit for my Saginaw 4 speed, 9.5 inch clutch with a spline with 10 teeth fly wheel 153 teeth. If I had a muncie or the t10 it be easy. I have no bones to pick on install and the shop contact Summit and came up with a Ram dual clutch that has lots of chatter both foreward and backing up. I want some thing single plate for a slightly modified motor. I figure mine is about 280 up and down, a single plate up to 450 be perfect. Those are out there, but, 26 spline. Both the shop and myself very disaponted and the owner feels who ever he talked to at Summit gave a poor info just to see this clutch. So in the mean time we agreed to keep in in the garage until he comes up with some thing and going to get a call to summit. I have 3.23 gears in my car, just had the rear axle rebuilt, and Summit said ( MAYBE) 3.73 take some of the chatter away, the guy who worked on my car said more like 4.11 gears and my car would not be steet worthy more like a strip car, not what I want or drive for pleasure. So any ideas there, to mix an match. Is it posible to go with a bigger fly wheel and 10.5 clutch for my Saginaw ? Switching a different 4 speed transmission in it and what parts would be necceary to make the transition ? What would a 5 speed fit be, parts, can I use my 1982 Z-Bar linkage. ANYONE SAVE THERE OLD PARTS FROM A SAGINAW OR MUNCIE OR T10 CLUTCH AND FLY WHEEL FOR A 26 SPLINE IF I HAVE TO GO THAT ROUTE. DAMN, ARE OLD CARS ARE LIKE BLACK HOLES MONEY IN AND DOES NOT COME OUT. ANY ONE OUT THERE, APRECIATE YOUR HELP.

Look up the clutch (at least, the disc) for a S10 or Astro van w/ 2.8. That also still had the old low-perf coarse spline on the clutch gear. That disc will work with your existing clutch.

They're not at every corner but a brake and clutch rebuilder who mostly works with truck parts should be able to comprehend 10.5" 82 Camaro clutch set but with 10 spline disc. They may swap hubs on the disc or find a correct disc.

Don't call Summit. They have catalogues. The catalogues come from manufacturers. Manufacturers want fewer part numbers. Their solution is for you to buy two sets.

Also, don't use shops that can't solve simple problems without your intervention. If an automotive shop is qualified to service parts, they should know who to call to get compatible, simple parts that fit millions of vehicles sold. This is not a 1985 Daewoo trans. in a Trabant FFS.

My solution is to spend time looking up the parts myself. Or tossing the ancient / wrong / non-overdrive parts and going 26 spline.

I agree, a stock type clutch should be fine for your power level. A dual disc clutch is a sales pitch / unnecessary in the application. While shorter gears might help smoother takeoff, so might more aggressive rpm on takeoff. And more gear without overdrive isn't as nice.

Fun fact: S10 and Astro bits are 14 spline.

Yes , it is a 10.5 clutch kit, turns out the guy who work on my car , is a old school gear head and the guy old cars go to, screwed up, he saw the old parts, preasure plate and clutch disk and though it was a 9.5 disk, 10 spline. Saturday I went to the shop, they did find a kit for the 9.5 I did not want that but the Hays 450 kit that I order, before I could say anything more, he told me when he actually looked at the disc, something did not look right and that it was to big for a 9.5, that actually it was a 10.5 disc. So, he got some adjusting to do as work done and money up forward and he feels bad this happened and gave me his word to will fix what they did as far as cost and labor. Today is 10/17/23 and his 10.5 kit for my 153 tooth fly wheel is suppose to arrive today. In the mean time, holding on to the Hays kit. THANKS FOR REPLYING AND LOOKS LIKE A FUBAR ON THERE PART, I am sure this will be corrected, and does suck living in Buffalo NY lost some car time with the weather I took it in and stuff end of the year and season.
