clutch grinding

On an '88 305 TPI/5 speed: Clutch grinds when I hold the pedal in, but not when I disengage it and leave it in neutral. Is this an indication that an adjustment or replacement of some sort is necessary? Estimate or suggestion on brand of replacement parts if clutch replacement is necessary? Thanks for any advice on this.

Yep your clutch is gone, same thing happened to me on my p/u, i went with a sachs clutch, it was 150 for pressure plate clutch plate, pilot bearing and t/o bearing and to get the fy wheel resurfaced. Just stay away from auto zone clutches, although they got a lifetime warranty they only last like 3 months, also change out your fly wheel bolts.
