Mine did something similar awile back , it wouldnt let me accelerate at all in od. I mean that if i touched the gas or was going up a hill at all it would drop back to 3. It pissed me off because having the same motor i was getting up around 5k at 95-105mph instead of being in od . Alittle while later I added a supercharger and i ate 2 on day. When i got it rebuilt if found that od was worn badly enough that it wouldnt hold under any stress. Needless to say i think that you are heading for a rebuild. Sorry. Mine only had 57k on the entire car when it went. and i drive her pretty easy. also i take very good care of her too. What can you do somtimes?

There's some kinda part that you can get from GM and other places that allow WOT in OD. If you don't have it, you'll get 3rd gear and that's it. I can't recall what it is, but I'm sure someone will see this and tell you...

What you want is a kickdown kit. That will alow you to shift into OD at full throttle www.bmracing.com has them as well as GM.

you guys mean its not going into 4 at wot, i know that but i have not ever even topped third yet what mine is doing is its not going into 3rd from 2nd at wot and if it does go into third (because i backed off throttle, ) and i floor it again neer 75-80ish it will go back to 2 from 3 it didnot do this 20k miles ago i am thinking i have a clogged filter and it cant build the pressure to overcome the govener?

The 700R4 does downshifts from 4th (OD) to 3rd when you got the peddle over 1/2 way down. This is normal... and why they would build an OD tranny like that makes no sense. It kind of defeats the purpose of having OD in my opinion. Like "thunderstick" and "black5.7GTA" said, B&M and GM make parts to take care of this problem. I bought the GM part... but I haven't installed it yet. You can go to the Tech page to get more info on this. They have the part #'s listed. I hope this helps.

Sounds like your 3rd gear clutches are slipping. Sorry to say this but it is time for a rebuild.

Then mess with your TV Cable some, I thought my transmission was a gonner and then I put a NEW TV cable in and found that the old one had stretched, you talk about 100% difference. The new one was only 1/2" shorter then the old one but it allowed that much more of a pressure raise and its like new now...
