This piece of hardware is attached to the driver's side of the 700R4 tranny between the speedo gear housing & the tail extension. It is leaking.
What is it & its purpose?

The fluid on the torque arm mount looks like it’s blowing back from speedometer driven gear housing or could be output shaft seal and bushing is shot.

The car is going into the shop, Tuesday, for the selector seal that was installed & failed in less than 10 months. Never leaked in 39 years until last year. I actually wrapped a cloth about the exposed end of the selector shaft and the leaking fluid is being completely absorbed these past 2 weeks.. Also, the speaker gear housing is dry. I will have technician check your suggestion.
