diff question
when my tranny shifts, sometimes there is a sound that i think is coming from the diff. could there not be enough fluid in it. it sounds as if there is too much space in between the gears and they are hitting when it shifts. this only started after the transgo shift install. so im thinking that now that it shifts harder the diff gears are smacking each other so i can hear it now.

It could be worn u-joints, a bad transmission or torque arm mount. Worn suspension bushings, loose exhaust. It wouldn't hurt to check the diff oil. Could be other things but it kinda hard to diagnose noises over the internet.

but the sound wasn't there until i installed the shift kit. so is there something that would make a sound now that the tranny shifts harder. it sounds like its coming from straight under me or more to the back. i guess im gonna have to lift my car and run it in the air to find it.

My guess: Tranny mount. Adding a shift kit puts more stress on a lot of parts--like the ones mentioned in the above post. Usually a driveshaft will make the clunk when shifting from forward to reverse(or the other way around) because of the slack in the u-joints cause it to pop. The same way if you have too much backlash in the gears. Under acceleration the gears are already against each other and can't pop together with a shift.
