Axle/Gears: 3.91 LSD
700R4 30 spline?
I have an 84 Z28 with a 700 R4, and I was wondering if my car had a 30 spline 700R4 or if all 700R4s were 30 spline or what's the deal with that? I know they changed the 700R4s slightly in 86, but I don't know if that has anything at all to do with the number of splines...

Around the middle of 1984 they changed the shaft width & spline count from .890 diameter to .990 & 27 spline to 30. The only way for you to find out is to take out the transmission & check.
