From what I've heard...... if you have, say, 3.73 gears- if you turn your wheels one whole time around, your driveshaft spins approx. 3.73 times. Dont take this as truth till someone verifies, but I'm pretty sure.

does the drive shaft rotate at the same speed that your tires are rotating or does it rotate at the same rate as the RPM????
Neither actually. If you take the engine speed and devide it by the current transmission gear you'll get driveshaft speed. Aka 3000 RPM / 3.06 gear= 980.4 driveshaft rpm.

And to get the RPMs at the wheel you devide the driveshaft speed by the rear end gear: 980.4 rpms/ 3.73 rear end= 262.8 wheel RPM.

If you are in 4th gear or highest gear before overdrive, most transmission will be 1:1. Meaning your driveshaft is turning the same RPM as the crankshaft.
