Tranny Life?

I have a 91 Z28 with a new engine. AFRheads 190's, cam 208\222 with .495\535 lift on 112 lca, 9:1 compression, stock intake with slp runners...base and plentum are ported to the runners, Ford svo 24lb injectors, afpr set at 45lbs, tes headers, flowmaster cat back system. I also have a paxton sn 2000M pushing 8lbs of boost. I was wondering what kind of life i can expect out of this setup? I was told by AFR that I would have aprox 450 hp at the fly wheel with out my blower. If I have to change transmissions but still want my OD, I was told that I could use the 480le? something like that? Anyway, where could i get one of these to withstand the power I am producing? and how much? I was thinking of slowing my supercharer down so i could still have traction and let my tranny live? Any suggestionsss?:hail:

The 700R4 when setup correctly can handle over 500 HP. With the supercharger you will need to use the 9.5" lockup (A.C.T. or Vigilante). The stock diameter torque converter (any stall) will not work here, it is way to heavy & inefficient. The 9.5" TC's are about 15-17 lbs lighter than the stock unit, and are a better unit at multiplying torque and keeping the transmission alive. The 9.5" TC will not transfer the shock to the gear train that the 12" will. On both of these accounts I can help you out on this. Let me know if I can be of help.

Sure, I'll take all the help i can get! However, I was told that my supercharger will give between 25-35% more hp. I am at 450 at the fly wheel WITHOUT my supercharger. So, with my SC giving aprox 25% is putting out aprox 563hp at the flywheel and 35% is aprox 607hp. I had the supercharger on, but took it off because i would do is spin up to 40-45mph. Plus, i didnot want to break my car! Anyway, I was told i could go witha 480le or some sort of tranny that was stronger and had OD AND would fit directly into my 91Z28? What's your thoughts and how much? Feel free to send me a PM

The 4L80E will not fit without a lot of work and expense. If you want the strongest 700R4 that I have that will take 650 HP, then I can help you. The cost outright for this unit is $1645.00, it has everything that my Street/Strip unit has with the addition of a sleeved input drum to give it the strength for the additional HP. The 4L80E will cost about $3500.00 - $4500.00 or more.
