major problem with starter, HELP!!!!!

I have recently purchased a Power Master 9502 starter. I posted a question about a week ago in search of some help as to if this starter is even the right one. I did get some feed back about fabricating a 1/8 shim, which I went out and did right away!
Still the teeth on the starter will not line up with the flywheel. Is my only other option to return it? If so which do I go with. I've been looking around, and everything looks the same. Oh by the way I have a 89 5-speed. The factory starter had a nose on it, which the new one does not. Any help would be greatly appreciated I'm itching to drive it soon. I've only driven it about 2 months over the past year due to on going learnig experiences!
Any how I need help. Thanks

It sounds like you have a starter for the wrong diameter flywheel.

But then again maybe not since you have the smaller flywheel.
