can I convert to 350?

can I convert to a 350 instead of a 700r4? since they supposedly are stronger and are cheaper? will it bolt right in? or will I have to do mad mods?

I am in the process of converting to a th400. I am told that it is a no brainer. They bolt to the block the same. I think the th350/400 may be a bit shorter than a 700r4 so you may need to lengthen your driveshaft. Or else get a Gear Vendors overdrive and shorten it like I am doing. Then you will have 6 speeds to choose from. Very expensive tho! I think in a f-body you may have to use a modified cross member to support the tail of the tranny. After breaking 2 700r4's I say "go for the th400." Okay, that said, now see how many people will say just get a well built 700r4. That's what's nice about living in America. We can all have our opinions and spend our money the way we want to.

a th700r4 is a th400 w/od so it'll bolt right up. a th350 w/ 9" tail housing is same size and direct bolt in. use a b&m kit for the torque arm or a aftermarket torque arm to relocate it to the floor pan
