TH350 won't shift out of 1st gear.
My friend and I just put a 383 in his Olds cutlass, with a TH350 transmission. I hooked up the vacuum line to the transmission (vacuum kickdown?) There is another cable from the transmission that goes to the carb. linkage. How is this supposed to be connected? On another motor with a TH200, it looked like the cable to the transmission was hooked up on the opposite side of the throttle cable, so that when the throttle was opened, the linkage pulled on the cable.
Anyway, I think that this is preventing the transmission from shifting out of 1st. If anyone knows how to hook this up correctly...
*Fluid level full
*Shift lever mechanism works correctly
*Trans shifts into P, R, N and drive ranges correctly
*car drives fine in 1st gear and reverse

The cable is the kick down linkage. You pop up the lock, move the throttle to WOT and close the lock.
Not shifting out of first is usually the vacuum modulator. Recheck the vacuum line at both ends. The other end goes right to the intake manifold vacuum port. If it's connected and no leaks, try changing the modulator.
