Yes it'll bolt right up. Be sure the throttle lever geometry is correct, most aftermarket carbs need some tweaking or a special bracket.

It may still need some correction with a 700R4. If the shifts are really early and soft don't drive it even a mile, check the geometry.
My '84 had an electronic q-jet with a 700R4 so you may be alright. I've heard of people having this problem.

Umm, all 700R4's need a detent cable, it controls all the shift points. It needs to know how much throttle the car is getting to make a certain shift. So, YES, your tranny will need a "OD kickdown cable" for it to work right.

Yes, you use the cable that came with the tranny. But you still need to check the geometry of the cable. What that means is, the cable is supposed to be a certain disance from the throttle lever, at closed throttle, and needs to open a certain distance also. I hope someone else can elaborate on this for me, or you can do a search on the board, name it "TV CABLE" and you will find what I'm talking about. It's very crucial that you get this right.
Trust me I've roasted a tranny because of this.

Wait, maybe I'm misunderstanding, but are you swapping motors?
Are you using same intake as before? Whats all going to be changed?

Ok, well you still need to use the TV cable, and since you are using a totally different motor, meaning intake and such, then the geometry can go off line, so just in case I would check it out to be safe. If you used to use the cable, then you still need to.
Hey, by the way what heads are you using on that. I think the last 3 digits on mine are 882, which means 350 or 400 heads.
Just wanted to see if anyone knows anything about these.

Later,
Rick

Can anyone tell the correct pull-lengt for the TV cable? I measured a 1987 TPI to be 1.34".

At http://www.sallee-chevrolet.com/Chev...tallation.html they say that the TV spring should be different in a TPI and carb application. If this is correct, why?
(The TransGo kit doesn't seem to care about if the car has carb or TPI)
