Liberty's T-5 Upgrade

Has anyone seen the recent issue of Hot Rod? It has a whole spread on aftermarket manual trannys. Libery has a service called Pro-SHifting. They take the 3,4,and 5th gears and remove the teeth that engage with the syncro's. They then weld on 10 teeth, down from 30, and modify the sliders also. I can't explain it as well as they did, as I don't know the inside of a manual that well. Anyway, this makes 3-5 real strong. They said it still can be broke, but it will take a lot more power to do so. This lets WOT shifts from 2-5 w/o the clutch. 1-2 can be done also, but if it is a street car, the double clutching would get old. To have all this work done to 3-5, cost $264. If I get the money, I might invest in some preventitive maintanance.

yeah man, that sounds good, i dont guess i read that article, or i havent gotten my mag yet, anyway, post how it does so the rest of us know, Which month's was it?

The article you are referring to is in the April issue of Car Craft. I have the G-Force clutch assisted five speed. The G-Force and the other transmissions in the article come that way from the factory. That mod will prevent you from blowing out synchros, however I don't believe that it would raise the torque capacity of your transmission.

i was contemplating this too

but i the T5 is just going to be temporary like i had originally planned

T56 all the way...........
