Axle/Gears: 12B-3.73/9"-3.89
For an '83, it has to be the TH700 or T5 in order for an '86 torque arm to be the right length. It's possible, if the '83 has a V6, that it also has a 3 speed auto, in which case the '86 torque arm would be too short.

I don't know about the length issues... but the books list 2 of the 3 possible mounts for 83. On my particular 83, the lips were turned inward toward the trans. But there are some that have no lips, and some that have them turned outward. You just have to look at yours. Jeg's will also sell you all of them and you can return the ones that don't fit.
