400 Cubic Inch 4-bolt Chevy
I am in the process of rebuilding a 1982 Firebird SE. I have just purchased a rebuilt Chev 400 cubic inch engine with double pumper holley carbs that pumps out close to 450HP. I am wondering what rear end came standard in the 82 firebird, and is it sufficient for this motor. If not what do you reccomend? Any help would be greatly appreciated,,,,,, i am a new member and i must say this site is FANTASTIC, by far the best on the net.

You have the 7½" 10-bolt. One of those lasted behind the 400 in my 83 for quite a few miles... it outlasted T-5s easily. I'd say as long as you don't do wheel-lifting launches on slicks, or power-shift it, or one-wheel-peel it, and you kep good clean synthetic fluid in it, it will last a good while.
