Solid pinion spacer, and pinion oil seal replacement questions??

Ok guys my pinion oil seal at the front of the differentail is leaking, so i decided to change it, while im in there i decided to put in a RATECH, solid pinion spacer, my intention was originally to pull the old crush sleeve out and measure it with a micrometer, but its not that simple, because the old sleeve is stuck on the pinion pretty good, so my question is:

1. have any of you dealt with this before, or come up with away to get the old sleeve off?

2. i know the correct way to do this would be to tear everything down and make sure i have the proper bearing preload, and everything, but can this operation be done without tearing everything apart, and if not what would be the proper procedure for removing the axles, posi, etc. and setting backlash, preload, etc.

thanks in advance

you didn't mark anything before you started? yes you should pull the pinion to replace the crush sleeve, there isn't much reson to change it while your changing a oil seal.
