91 rs rearend

I gotta 91 rs v6, I heard from someone that it comes with a limited slip diff.
But when i power brake i only get one tire mark and the tires are brand new. Does this model come with a posi are not?

I've also heard around that there is a sports package rs v6 whats the diff. than a regular one?

Thanx

I don't think braking will give any indication of whether it's posi or not. Locking the brakes is supposed to lock up the rear wheels anyway, so the differential doesn't matter. Might be just a brake system problem.

Best way, by far, to tell if it's posi is to pull the cover off (probably needs a fluid change anyway). Spider gears is open-differential, clutches is posi. I say pull the cover because even if it is posi, the clutches could be worn out and it'll act like an open-differential no matter what other tests you do.

I don't know about any sports package for the v6.

brake torque it on a good road with no gravel on it and if you get 2 black marks you will find out its posi if no you have limited slip. if you have a manuel trans you have 3042 gears and if its an automatic then you probably have 323's but i don't think you have posi.

well, if you have 3.23's, and if the posi is worn, you can get a torsion diff posi from www.slponline.com. if you never had posi in the first place, but still have 3.23's, then you can still get this. it will work for 3.23's and up. when you take off your cover, make sure you have 3.23's by looking at the ratio on the ring gear. it should say 42:13. if its anything else, use a calculator to check.

The only way to know for sure is to pull the cover. My RS spun both tires since I've had it and I always thought it was limited slip until I pulled the cover to install gears. I have talked to a few people who have had the same experience. Good luck!!
