Putting in a new rear end with disc brakes....

Question is.... do I need a new brake pressure regualtor.... as I understand the drum brake regulator only runs at about half the pressure... do I need a new regulator... and where would I be able to get one??

WHat you need to do is change from a metering block to a proportioning valve. They look pretty much the same, and have a similar function, in that they regulate the rear brakes. The metering valve used with drum brakes, basically slows the flow to the relatively small wheel cylinders to keep them from applying too fast compared to the front calipers. With rear disc brakes, you need to regulate the pressure to the rear brakes, instead of the flow.

When I did the swap in my car, I got the master cylinder and prop valve from the car I got the rear from. I just had to re-bend one line to make it fit. As for getting one if you don't have the original car, go to a salvlge yard, or the local GM dealership. The typical parts store can't get them because they are so specific to the vehicle. One other option is to get an adjustable prop. valve. I can't remember right off who makes them, but I'm sure you can find one from Jegs or Summit.

Good luck!
