Fundamentals, balancing Flywheels

I am chnging over from a auto to a manual transmission
(A4 to T-56) on an LT1.

As I understand it a stock LT1 is externally balanced.
So the flexplate is the among the elements used for balancing.

When I change over to a flywheel do I need to do something
to ensure that it "matches" the existing flexplate ?

you need an lt1 flywheel, one for a 1 piece crank seal, it's not external balance
