Quick yes or no question. please answer asap

ok, please answer asap. I currently have a 10 bolt, 28 spline, 3.08 posi unit in my camaro. there is 2 series and 3 series for these cars. on jegs it says 2 series is for 3.08 and numerically lower gears, and 3 series is for 3.23 and up. so If I want to change my current rear end into 4.10 gears, and keep the same posi carrier, all I need to do is buy a 2 series 4.10 ring and pinion set right? and everything will bolt up to my posi carrier? Please answer asap. I already have the bearings, and the posi unit is mint cond, so all i will need is jegs # 836-49-0009-1 right? I just need to make sure thats the right ring/pinion set for what im trying to do. Also, once this gets all done, if it starts to whine, what is the reason? is it because of bearings not put in right? is it because of gears not calibrated right? what? thanks guys.. please answer asap.. im awake awaiting answers.

Nate

if the gearset is ment for a 2 series carrier then it will be no problem, but you can not put gears ment for a diffrent carrier on the wrong one.

yes that is the right gear. be forewarned....there is no such thing as a richmond gear that doesn't whine lol. just besure all your preloads are what they should be; the ring gear endplay is correct; the pinion depth is correct; and be sure to check the tooth pattern with gear marking compound. it will be noisy i guarentee you that. but if all the forementioned are correct then you won't have a problem. just be sure to follow the break in procedure on the instructions and you'll be good to go.
