How many different VSS's (vehicle speed sensor) can fit im my car? I think the vss that the trans shop had install is the wrong one. It reads 120 when I'm going 10.

There are 3 different sensors, 4 different drive gears, & 8 different driven gears. However GM only used 7 combinations of these. It is impossible to use the wrong combination and get the results you have stated. There is something else wrong. Possible defective sensor or stripped gear.

Well the engine and trans came out of a 89 Camaro which was gear driven. The spedo and everything else in my car is electric. The only thing I tried was to have the put in a spedo gear and a VSS. Thats how I got to where I am now. Last night I exchanged the Buffer thats next to the computer with one that works but I got the same results. What is the next thing I should try? test the speedometer at a spedo shop? or check into the VSS some more?
