Throttle pressure acts upon the boost valve to increase pressure as throttle opens. The larger the boost valve the higher the pressure. IMO .500" is not needed by many people.

More holding power on the clutches & band, that's it.

Hey

So what would More holding power on the clutches & band do. Would it make the transmission shift quicker or what. Explain what it does to make the car better, faster.

It allows for higher line pressure, increasing the firmness of the shift, but like said it's not needed by most people a .471 will probably be better for most setups and allow longer tranny life.
However, I got a rebuild over the summer, and my tranny slips on the 1-2 shift, so I'm installing a vette servo and .500 boost valves one of these days, I know it will only mask the problem, but if the tranny can hold up for another couple years, I'll be happy.
