Anyone whose had a converter let go?
Here's what I have. I have a rattle or buzz that sounds like it's from the back of the motor/trans area. Driving down the road I occasionaly get a lurch or buck kinda like a slipping clutch for a second. At first I thought it was a header hitting. Had one that looked like it was hitting, so I fixed that. Now it seems to be getting worse. If I foot break the car the buzz will start around 900 or 1000 rpm. If I get on it the buzz used to start at like 3900 or so but now it comes on at 2800. It sounds a lot like detonation and naturally the knock sensor is picking it up. I know it's not knock. I've run the timing 2 degrees retarded, water injected the intake, gone to a colder plug, ran different types of 93 octane and added 2 gallons of race gas to 3/4 of a tank one night at the track, none of this helps and now it seems to be getting worse. So if you've had a torque converter go bad on you I'd appreciate it if you'd tell me what yours did when it went bad. Thank you
