What year is your car? It probably would... or it could be a loose v-belt or a stretched-too-far-to-self-adjust-anymore serpentine belt. Look closely at the balancer. It's got a center steel hub, a rubber isolation ring, and then a steel outer ring. The rubber isolation ring should be EVEN on BOTH SIDES with the center hub and outer ring. If the rubber is poking out visibly, it's time for a new balancer, the rubber has deteriorated too far.

On my 211,500 mile 2.8 Blazer engine.
I removed the outter ring by hand.
It slipped off so easy.
I ruined a new balancer puller removing the rest of the balancer.
Yep, it'll cause problems.
YOU NEED A NEW ONE!!!!

i changed the balancer...it wasn't the problem...damn it.. could it be engine mounts maybe? i noticed that the vibrates up and down in the rubber part...could that be it? a very leaky exhaust wouldn't make the car vibrate would it? it only does it at like 1,100 and 2,200 rpm...i'm confuzzled

Mounts is easy.
Two people.
One in car & one watching engine bay.
Place vehicle IN REVERSE.
HOLD BRAKE PEDAL HARD!
Give it some gas.
Watch if engine ROCKS in engine bay.
I think ya need a tune up or ya have a vacuum leak.

it's a 5 speed and the clutch slave cylinder just blew so i guess i gotta fix that before anything else. it just had a tune up after i put it the engine in, it's got less than 100k on it. i know for sure there are a bunch of vacuum leaks...turns out my canister isn't even hooked up! getting a chiltons manual with vacuum diagrams so i can take care of those. as far as the engine mount test goes...kinda hard to do with a manual, maybe if i block the wheels...i do know that when it's revved freely in neutral and you look under the car you can see the exhaust rise up maybe a half inch or so. anymore feedback would be apreciated. thanks!:hail:

mine use to vibrate pretty bad a about 1000-2500 rpms and the problum was that the the tranny mount broke it allowed the engine to tust a little bit more and the tranny lifts up and vibartes. It did it he most in neutral. A easy way to tell if it is the tranny moint is to jack the car up put it on jack stands then take a jack and place it on the tranny and if it lifts of of the cross member and the the rubber muont will stay on the bottom of the cross member. then you pull the mount out by unbolting the the trany side first then the cross member bolts then place the new one in. be care full there is a lot of dirt up on the cross member.
