Fast, your going to need to bleed all the brakes front and rear a couple of times to get the air out. Once all the brake fluid drains the lines are completetly filled with air and few good bleeding should take care of the problem. Good Luck!

Thats what i blead them with i uuesd 4 of the big bottles to bleed them. Still i have a very mushy pedel im going to my frineds shop tomomrw and hopefuly he will have time to fix it if not im gonna be screwed i can drive the car but i jsut have to stay waayybehind the other cars. It also destroyed my new brake pads the lineing fell off so i hada get new pads.
Its still leaking from were the caliper and hose meet i have no clue why i wored on the care from 9am til 11pm today to barely any avail. The reason they went is the clip that holds the center of the hose on fell off and it rubbed against the metel and made a nice hole. I was luckey i went on a drive jsut to think about stuff and ended up going to krispy cream in the valley and when i was in the drivethrough i herd my car make a werid sound almso tliek the pop off on a turbo then my brake light came on and i had no brakes i feel really luckey but im pissed i am missing 2 days work and i really need the $$$$ for the firebird.
You talk to ben yet he stil lhasnrt called me back

Yeah bro don't drive this car until you fix the brakes!!

And Dot4 fluid; isn't that the silicone fluid? It's not quite compatible with the rubber seals, and could do more harm than good; stick with Dot3. Or wait, is Dot4 normal fluid, just higher temp? Which one is the silicone fluid?

Sounds to me that when the brake hose burst, and all your fluid drained out, that youv'e sucked air into the master cylinder. You have to bench bleed the m/c now. That quick take up valve is going to be a first class btch... good luck! (Check out http://www.brakebleeder.com for the best frickin' tool ever invented!! I love it!!)

And for anyone reading this, if you haven't replaced your brake hoses yet, DO IT!! Brake hoses deteriorate over time, both internally and externally, and if you've got original hoses, you should replace them! I've replaced my front hoses, back in '96 (over 100k ago), and intend to replace them again this summer.

I'm also going to replace the front calipers, just for kicks, because they've been on the car for 233,000 miles. I'm sure they're a bit tired.

Valvoline DOT Synthetic stuff at level 4, is boiling point of 405*
Just checked
502*!!
It's regular stuff.

DOT5=Silicone.
Don't waste the effort unless you have super special needs.

This Valvoline stuff is killer!
I use it in the 1974 Corvette.
I stop onna DIME, with change to spare!
I also do many high speed slow downs from triple digits, too. I heat up the brake system in that Corvette!

Should I break in the 1970 LT-1, I've built, under the Corvette hood?
