Ignition Timing, what do you set yours at?

I recently checked my timing and it was WAY off the factory spec on the hood of 10 degrees BTDC. I set it to 10 and well it has no pick up. I was just wondering what you guys might have yours set at. I was running better with the timing way off the scale on the crank.

Did you disconnect the "electronic timing control wire" I don't recall the name exactly. If not you're readings will be way off.

In case you didn't, it's a tan and black striped wire in the rear passenger side area of the engine bay. There's a connector in the wire you need to disconnect. It's pretty easy to find. After timing it to 10 to 14* depending on how old your timing chain is, shut it off and reconnect the wire. That is if your 88 is the same as the 89. I kinda sure they are.
