Quick question!!

No laughing/speaches Karl :nono:

On the 85 Alt, it has the 2wire connector. Where do these wires go to? Thankyou in advance for answering this 6 cylinder question

Ugh; been a long time since I thought about this... and I can't find my old message in the archives. It should be the same charging system as any V8 car of your year, though.

One wire comes from the ignition switch, it "powers up" the internal regulator. I can't fer the life of me remember what the other one does; I think it might go back to the dash for the "bad alternator" light.

Problem with the charging system? Or just curious?

out alts have a 2 wire connector. the 4th gens have a 4 wire connector from the alt, but only 1 wire actually on the connector harness itself. & I do have gauges if it makes any difference.

Found the answer

the two wires from our alts: 1 goes to the dash, the other to the fuel pump/fan relay. The one wire from the 94 alt goes to the dash. Splice & go, problem averted :lala:

edit: Splice & go, awight, juction box then, do it right
