1. Go to Pep Boys, Autozone, or a similar "chain-type" auto parts store.
2. Buy the $15 Haynes 82-92 Firebird manual.
3. Read the procedure inside.
I've replaced my pump twice, and I followed the instructions in the Haynes book. The procedure is identical to the one listed in the GM Service Manual. I don't see a need to re-type the manual for you!
Tip #1: Don't re-use the pulsator; either buy a new one, or use a short piece of hose instead.
Tip #2: Before you drop the tank, buy/rent a fuel pressure gauge, and make sure that the pump is definately dead. You don't want to go thru the trouble of replacing the pump and have the car still not work.
Tip #3: Click on search on the upper right hand corner of this screen, look for "fuel pump" by "TomP" in the "V6 Forum", and you'll find more info on the above 2 steps.

I got a hint for ya: If it is working fine; for now save some dollars and do a rearend upgrade. You will just about have the rearend out so If you want a posi or different gears. It will be a good time to do it.
Also it helps to ease your mind about taking all the crap apart for just a fuel pump.
