Jeeze.. something else now

Ok driving home.. accel from a light.. duhhhhhh.. off.. engine dies.. I try pulling over with whats left [its dead and just rolling now] (and the guy in the lane next to me saw my car died so he couldn't waste 10 seconds letting me get over so he speeds up and almost hits me getting by...)

Anyway Its off.. won't turn back on.. I wait a few minutes.. it turns on.. goes 2 feet and dies again.. I don't have gauges I have freakin dummy lights.. when I start it the second time the engine temp light was on.. anyway.. sitting on the side of the road for 5 min with hazards on.. I was boned and didn't know what to do (no cell) i start it back up.. it starts but the engine temp light is still on... I drive to a gas station just a tad bit up the road and call my dad.. he comes to look at it and we are both puzzeled... I mean the car had been on for only about 5 minutes IF that even when it died... anyway I decide to goto a shop and on the way SES comes on.. code 34.. I didn't have a manual with me but after some running around I called autozone and they told me it had to do with the maf.. I told the guy in the shop and he said he didn't have time to do anything now.. but to unplug it and drive w/o it.. I did that and drove all the way home (with the SES light on of course since it was unplugged).. when at home I plugged the maf back in.. drove around the block and a few minutes later.. dead.. engine off.. engine temp light on.. get out unplug the maf.. start it and go home....

The question:..

Is this my maf.. I could get one out of the junkyard or from autozone.. but i'm wondering if its the wiring or something.. and why would my engine temp light come on.. the engine isn't that hot.. the radiator fan didn't even come on yet when it dies

Never mind... replaced it with a new MAF from autozone.. man.. its been 5 weeks and i'm already in for $500 repairs alone.. anyone see why I didn't jump on $200 headers when they were out.. so far i'm down for $100 a week on repairs alone.. damn I wonder if I should of gotten a mustang like my friend has.. he hasn't had anywhere near this many problems... I know you will all say ford sucks.. even my dad does because he says "they have too many problems"... so far me + camaro = $500 in repairs over the past 5 weeks... friend + mustang gt = gas money... really his friend has one too and nothing wrong yet there too... well.. until tomarrow.. when someone else dies on this chevy.. I mean I just replaced the PVC valve yesterday.. then what I "THINK" is a lifter starts ticking.. and this dies today.. day by day.. I don't mind fixing things.. but EVERY DAY... come on.. this really has me thinking of painting.. selling it.. and getting a stang..

Hang in there... every dog has its day and your friend's mustang will have its own share of problems eventually. Did replacing the MAF cure the problem? If so, check another thing off of the list of "to do" things. These cars range anywhere from 10 to 20+ years old. Depending on the previous owner, anything could happen especially on the clapped out beat to death ones. How much did you pay? I usually plan on an initial project if the purchase price was less than a grand (private party) or 1500 (mom and pops dealer). Don't give up -- every repair is a learning experience which can be used for the next guy that comes to the board saying "my car won't stay running"

LOL. Are you sure your Friend has not had any problems. I have friends who have problems with there cars (not nessarily fords) they just don't replace it. Like it still runs enough to get me home even though I need a tune-up and won't, or your brakes are squeking there like I know, but I don't feel like replacing them.

Often we see another car as better till we buy it. THen disaster strikes. THink of it this way you know whats been replaced on your car, so now you know that will not bring you any more trouble for a while.
